This is a good starter book for those who know little or nothing about reading music and are not yet familiar with the keys of the keyboard / piano. The author's writing is easily read and understood and his instructions and suggestions are presented in a warm, friendly manner. Although most of the book is geared to beginners, he also introduces quite a lot of information about chords that will be helpful to those who are a little further along in their learning. I might question(just a little) the title of this book in regards to the speed with which one can learn the art of music reading. The basic information is certainly given ... but the speed of reading will only come in time with plenty of practice and specific methods of drilling. The book contains links that access several instructional videos (usually about 7 minutes) that are also well done ... conveying his points clearly with the benefit of professional quality diagrams. Mr Cazaubon's knowledge, instructions and encouragement are all wrapped up in quite a charming package. Nicely done!
A simplified process for an absolute beginner in reading music. Having no previous knowledge, I found the guide to be very enlightening and easy to follow. I also appreciated the various links to other resources that were found throughout the book.This will help me in my venture into chorale singing on a local level.
The book was simple and easy to understand. The pictures are of good quality and just the right size so you can what he's talking about. The links to relevant videos for certain chapters were a great idea especially for people who learn better by listening rather than reading.I'd give this book 10 stars if I could.
Easy, informative, and quick to learn. A good way for a beginner to learn, or a refresher for someone who has been away from the piano for a while.
